Quick Select

Lumileds component screening in four filters

Use this worksheet to prepare a shortlist by output, integration, environment, and control interface. Final selection still requires product-specific engineering evidence.

Build the first-pass brief

01

Output and color

  • Target luminous flux or photon output
  • CCT and tolerance range
  • CRI and TM-30 priorities
  • Allowable electrical input
02

Mechanical integration

  • Package and board footprint
  • Mounting and optic interface
  • Maximum source height
  • Thermal path constraints
03

Operating environment

  • Ambient temperature range
  • Duty cycle and maintenance plan
  • Finished-luminaire IP or IK target
  • Applicable geography

Record comparable values

Luminous requirement

State lumens, candela intent, or PPFD at the relevant distance. Avoid comparing wattage alone.

Color requirement

State CCT, CRI, and any TM-30 or spectral objectives that affect appearance or plant response.

Environment

State ambient temperature and enclosure conditions. IP and IK apply to the complete luminaire, not the LED package by itself.

Control context

Identify the driver and system interface: 0–10V, DALI-2, DMX, or another architecture. Confirm low-level dimming and commissioning needs.

Lifecycle target

Define the maintenance objective and interpret LM-80 and TM-21 within the intended current and temperature conditions.

Selection discipline

Highest efficacy is not automatically the best system result. Optical efficiency, color quality, thermal margin, driver losses, glare control, component availability, and serviceability all affect the finished luminaire. Integrated assemblies can simplify packaging, while replaceable components can improve field maintenance. Capture the chosen tradeoff explicitly so that design and procurement evaluate the same target.

Ready to check the shortlist?

Before submission, label every numeric value as a target, tolerance, or measured condition. Source data cannot predict finished-luminaire distribution without the optic, thermal path, driver, enclosure, and test geometry. Samples should be evaluated at the intended operating current and representative board temperature; color comparisons should use the same measurement setup. Send the completed filter criteria and qualification schedule.
